coat rack update!

I succeeded in getting my darling to drill a few holes and put the coat racks up. He is such a sweetie!!  So here they are.  What do you think? We have a lot more room to put our six thousand coats. I still have a few ideas to add to the wall so I will keep you posted on the "entryway redecoration"

Maybe I could add a little paint to this metal wreath so it will match  the new colors better. It is a bit turquoise-y. Or maybe paint the walls......shhh, don't tell Pierre I said that!

My yummy lunch

Painting my swing was hard work so I made myself a great lunch and I thought it would be fun to share the recipe with you.  I cut lengthwise some carrots, 2 small potatoes, a red pepper, a courgette, and then added some whole garlic cloves. Then I mixed all of the stuff in the picture below....

honey, olive oil, sambal oelek, and mustard, don't forget the salt too. Mix a little bit of each thing and stir it into the veggies. Then spread it out in a baking sheet and bake at 450°.

They get all nice and roasted! Yummy! I went a bit heavy with the sambal oelek so I used some plain yogurt as dip.  Very tastey.  And yes I ate all that. It was mostly vegetables....

my wooden swing gets a paint job

So here is my old swing that has taken a beating these last 10 years.  I put a dark stain (boring...) a few years ago but it really needed a little fixing up.

And since my paint applier of choice these days is a rag, here it is with the lovely paint I picked out. I sanded the swing first, then just rubbed the paint on. It dried really fast.

Now it just needs a good clear varnish to protect it from the elements.I will get around to that tomorrow.  Did you notice in the first picture that I had only put some newspaper down as protection, then I ran to get a big sheet of plastic, that I "normally" use when I paint, as the first few little droplets of BLUE paint dripped on the terrace.... Will I ever learn!

a close-up, I like how it looks kind of distressed. You can see alot of the wood underneath.  So it is really a new paint job so the swing will look old!

A coat rack from bed slats

Here are the cast of characters! Plain ole acrylic paint that I have had laying around, and some wooden slats that used to be under M-A's mattress.

I used a rag and rubbed the white paint on....

then some brown paint on top....

and then some color

I then stuck three together to make one board (I used a small strip of wood and nailed it to the back). As for the hooks, when I saw the price of one hook in the store (about 3 CHF), I racked my brain for a better idea, and nails popped into my head (not literaly, of course). I didn't know yet that nails are the "hooks of choice" of my dear sister. I'll take another picture when it's on the wall.
As you can see from the picture I kinda went crazy and laid all this stuff out on the dining room table with minimal protection for my new tablecloth.  I am happy to report that there were no accidents. Now my next goal is to get Pierre to put it up tomorrow.  I know I should do that myself, but I ain't too good with gettin' things straight when I put them on the wall. So to avoid diplomatic incidents, I leave all hole drilling and such to the Masta!!
